Mississippi Roadside: Liberty Drive In

Usually this drive-in on the north side of Hwy 24/48 in Liberty (I don’t know it’s name) is covered up with cars and people when I pass through, but one time last summer, I happened to come through early in the morning and did a uey and screeched in to grab my shots. The blue sky and sun were icing on the cake. I’ve never had a shake here, but look at the menu board and the trophies in the window and the usual crowd in the parking lot and tell me it doesn’t have the best shakes in Amite County.

  1. Great roadside architecture! The covered area on the left was an add-on. As for the prominent loudspeaker: “Number 6, your shake is ready!”

  2. It’s now called The Rockin’ K.

  3. https://polldaddy.com/js/rating/rating.jsThe Rockin’ K…..YES, best chocolate shakes and cheeseburgers in the world!

  4. Very good catfish boxes. I had the pleasure of eating there three or four times over the past two months. Food is good. But I do still miss Mr. Jack Cupit’s (former owner) black pepper hamburgers. Yum Yum.

  5. https://polldaddy.com/js/rating/rating.jsIt will forever be the Liberty Bell to me! I worked there in the 90’s.

  6. Beat cheeseburgers and ‘ Curly Q’s ‘! We just not forget those! The chocolate and vanilla swirl ice cream: whether ordered ina cone or cup, is the best .
My maws maw brought all her grand babies there, early in our lives. In the 60’s.
This place is a legend, if it’s iwn.

Guy, from the food network needs to visit this place.

The owners need to contact the Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives, with Guy Feri. He would come visit in s heart beat.
