Out-of-State Architects and Mississippi Architecture from “The American School and University” 1928-1934

Yesterday’s post, “Mississippi Architects and Architecture from ‘The American School and University’ 1928-1934,” covered Mississippi architects and the school buildings they designed in Mississippi (and occasionally elsewhere). Since architectural practices rarely stay inside state lines, today’s post contains the listings of out-of-state architects who, in the directory of “Architects for Educational Buildings” in The American School and University, designed educational structures in the state of Mississippi. There are comparatively few out-of-state architects in this post compared to the number of Mississippi architects in the other post. That is to be expected; yet Mississippi lagged behind in the late 1920s and early 1930s compared to its neighboring states in the number of projects designed by out-of-state architects. Alabama, for example, had architects from as far away as Connecticut and Indiana design educational structures in the state. Tennessee also had a large number of projects by out-of-state architects.

Like yesterday, the following listings are copied exactly as written in The American School and University annuals, arranged chronologically and alphabetically as printed, with any clarifications bracketed and italicized. Since the architects today hail from different states, they are arranged by state as well. Although many of the listings from various years are identical, I have included all of them like I did for yesterday’s post.
