Two points. After not playing for two days, you are starting to mow over the competition. Of course, like a couple of the previous buildings included the competition, longtime Preservation in Mississippi readers will remember that the Vandiver Student Union has been profiled here before.

The Horton Science Building was the structures similarly round neighbor. Vandiver has at least two MissPres post.

You haven’t struck anyone out, yet. Would you consider accepting a suggestive link to an iconic home here in the Prairie that will surely stump everyone, except you as I think you’re familiar with this area?

I came close to stumping everyone yesterday, and I think there are certainly a couple of posts in the next two days that have a good chance of stumping everyone, which may or may not include any buildings from your neck of the woods. I also have already decided on all of the Name This Place buildings. That being said, I will shoot you an email and see what your suggestion is.

Mowing over doesn’t seem very sporting. I’ll chime in for the tougher ones you mentioned, if I know them.

If you can Name This Place then you can Name This Place in my opinion. As long as you are not looking at the posts beforehand, then I do not think you should be penalized for being an expert on Mississippi’s architectural history.

And why exactly did someone/’they’ think this building needed to be demolished? Does the Delta just not like modernism?

bravo, mr r. was working on my wallpaper study, so didn’t get here ‘on the dot’; but, then, had no idea about the building but did think ‘1960s’. see y’all tomorrow—

And just think, I was within 2 miles of there today whilst traveling in the Delta. I even looked over and said, “Whereabouts is Mississippi Delta College, and where does the Yellow Dog cross the Southern?” I should get 5 points for ESP….or at least ‘honorable mention for thinking about Name This Place.’

My Magic 8-Ball says no points for ESP. :-)
But if you provide some sort of fact about the building (other than just saying it was needlessly demolished, which it was, like all the other buildings in this contest), then I will give you a point.

I left Mississippi in 1976 after college. I sure am enjoying the enthusiasm, very entertaining and at the same time sad to see that these buildings were demolished.
