Maybe you saw this feature on 60 Minutes a few weeks ago, but even so you might want to watch it again. Gaudi’s amazing, weird, symbolic, genius Sagrada Familia Basilica in Barcelona is the longest architectural project currently under construction, clocking in at 130 years and still going. It’s getting close though, and it’s on my List of Places to See Before I Die. Take a few minutes to enjoy this mid-week virtual architectural tour!
Wow what a great video! Ive seen the building in architectural history books but you really need to see it in video or, even better, in person to truly appreciate it. America’s version construction wise might be the Cathedral of St. John the Divine in New York City. Construction started 120 years ago. Several years ago I ran across a book that contained a proposal to finish the structure with a miesian box. How I wish I had bought the book just for that image.
Thanks for sharing this video. Wish we could take a field trip to get away from this Mississippi rainy day.

Gaudi’s fearless use of color is amazing. Excuse the hyperbole, but if architectural perfection were achievable, I’ve always felt he came closest.
