Waveland School (1920), finishing Katrina repairs

According to this story in the Sun Herald, which sources the MDAH website where I can’t find the original news release, five Mississippi properties have recently been listed to the National Register:

  • Waveland School, Hancock County
  • Christian and Brough Building, Vicksburg
  • Starkville Colored Cemetery, Oktibbeha County
  • Meridian Senior High and Junior College, Lauderdale County
  • Tupelo Downtown Historic District, Lee County

  1. I hope this will organize someone to take better care of the colored cemetery in Starkville. No one knows who really owns it and the management is haphazard at best.

  2. Submit a public records request for that news release (if any).
