Flora is a town that gets preservation. From the lovely main street to the historic depot and Chip Estes’ super cool cotton gin, the people of Flora are committed to saving what makes their place so special. On Saturday, September 7, visitors will flock to Flora for Flora Trade Day and 4th Annual Car Show from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, hosted by the Flora Area Historical Society. Sponsors include Hometown Hardware, McGraw Gotta-Go, GEM Publications, Flora Area Chamber of Commerce, Runnels Insurance and Madison County Business League. Money raised will go to the restoration of the Town’s 1914 water tower. Admission is free, and activities include art/craft vendors, local entertainment, kids zone, local food and a car show with awards. Yay for Flora! A great example of what a small town can do. It makes Edwards down the road look all the more sad.

Now if they could just put all the powerlines underground so we could get an unobstructed view of the tank that would be great!
