In case you missed Walt Grayson’s Look Around segment last weekend about the River Road Historic District, you should head over to WLBT and check it out. You may recall that the River Road in Lawrence County was listed on the National Register last March (2011) and next weekend, they’re dedicating their historic marker and celebrating with a fish fry. If you’re in the neighborhood, stop in and drive the River Road. This is the perfect time of year to head out exploring Mississippi’s countryside.
Here’s your invitation:
The Lawrence County Historical Society invites you to a Fish Fry provided by the Georgia-Pacific Catfish Cooking Team in Celebration of the Historic River Road Acceptance to the National Register of Historic Place. The unveiling of the historical marker and dinner will be October 12th at 12:00 noon at the Bo Bourne Cabin on Old River Road. Signs will be posted from Mississippi Hwy 84 to the old River Road. Come and enjoy the festivities and great food.
