Ran across this slide show story about an old post office that a woman turned into her house. It’s not in Mississippi, but I thought it was a good example of how creative people can be with historic buildings.

I’ve seen a few post offices of similar date and size turned into houses and this is the best of the lot; most end up looking too much like a post office with sofas, or a suburban house with a few vestiges of post office.

I loved it. She created a home but retained the beauty of history. As to 4 bathrooms, I feel sure she is looking ahead; you can always create bedrooms. The “catty, unfavorable ” comments with the slide show probably stem from jealousy of the doctor’s creativity and ability to handle this project.
