Cool picture. I believe some of the furniture was still in use late 70s when I started at MSU. I like the modern version better than the postmodern (???) thing that has replaced it.

They had a bowling alley on the ground floor (was that a partial basement?).

I miss the old union. They started renovation about the time I graduated and I’ve been inside since completion and it’s so bland looking on the inside. There are some enlargements a historical pictures from the university’s past and they were the only thing I saw I liked. And yes, they had a bowling alley in the basement that I spent a good bit of time in on field trips in school. I was so mad it had closed by the time I started college there as a freshman in 2000.

I’m loving that carpet and the green striped chairs, but those blue arm chairs remind me way too much of all the institutional furniture in all the mental facilities where I’ve worked over the years.

That coffee table on what looks like cut-down column legs is fascinating.

Yes, I liked that too, and the tables with the green chairs. I guess that is the mid-century modern version of the library table.

I think that’s a vintage postcard image?
