Waiting for me upon my return to the friendly confines of Mississippi was the brochure announcing the Mississippi Heritage Trust’s historic preservation conference Experience Mississippi! For those of you who skipped out on the Mississippi Historical Society’s conference (you know who you are!), this will be yet another opportunity to spend a little time in the newly restored Old Capitol, and as if that weren’t enough, you can also hear speakers talk about their experiences in the trenches of preservation. The conference, April 24th, will focus on MHT’s well-known 10 Most Endangered list, now celebrating (not sure if that’s the right word, but I’m using it anyway) it’s 10th anniversary. We’ll get to hear about the successes and perhaps most importantly, the non-success stories, which sometimes teach us more than the successes.
Check out the conference schedule at MHT’s website and get registered. All the in-crowd, the hip and cool, will be there, and we’ll notice those who aren’t.
