MissPres is on vacation this week, but we’re sending postcards back from Mississippi’s past.
Johnie Cleveland’s TRAILER TOWN. “Mississippi’s Largest & Best.” 2 miles from downtown Jackson on old U.S. 49 South. Travel Trailer ofc. – 939-6818, Main Office – 939-4873. 160 Mobile Home Lots – 96 complete Travel Trailer pull through spaces – Paved streets and patios – Laundry – telephones available, each lot – free swimming pool -free tank dump – Showers & Toilets.
I’ve swam in this pool back in the late 1970s/early 1980s. My friend lived in a travel trailer directly across from the pool for a while.
I think this might be the only time I have ever seen that little chevron-sign design on the side of a pool.
I think I may have mentioned years back that this spot was originally Johnny Cleveland’s Airbase and flying school. Had my first plane ride there in 1946. The concrete block house was the terminal and pilots lounge. The maintenance hanger was a galvanized building that was still there until a few years back when it disappeared.
