Sixty One years ago today Vicksburg suffered a devastating tornado. The National Weather Service has on their webpage an interactive map of Vicksburg, accessible at http://www.weather.gov/jan/1953_vicksburgtornado [original link here https://web.archive.org/web/20160415044316/http://www.srh.noaa.gov/jan/?n=1953_vicksburgtornado ] The map gives a spacial understanding to the events and is tagged with the tornado’s track, damage photographs, damage points, and fatality locations. During this time of year when we have much to be thankful for let us not forget these events, along with the lives and landmarks lost.
