MissPres is on vacation this week, but we’re sending postcards back from our travels to the past.

Here, at this recreation center, built on the protecting causeway that encircles the small craft harbor, is the Yacht Club, center of much of the social life of the city, and the nearby white sand beach in season, is the finest of bathing beaches, with gradually sloping bottom, and no undertow.

When I was growing up, (prior to 1952 or ’53 when the 26 mile beach was first pumped in) this was the only beach in Gulfport, and one of the very few at all along the entire Coast.
