I thought I could recognize most old Greenville houses…but this one has me stumped. Downtown Washington or Main or Central? South Washington Avenue? South Broadway?
Me too, thus my lack of comment! I was hoping some of our Greenville experts could point us in the right direction, but if you don’t recognize it, we may be stumped.
“Musing Through Towns in Mississippi” (1999, Wynelle Scott Deese) showed the postcard and identified it as east end residences on Washington Avenue, and references two postcards addressed to Maria Starling, daughter of Lyne Starling, on Washington Avenue in 1905 and 1907. The Greenville Daily Democrat 1911 wrote of a large number of new residences constructed in the “East End” and listed 6 streets.

“East End” makes me think maybe Washington, across from King’s Daughters. The house on the left looks somewhat familiar…
