Well, I got behind in checking the public notices on the MDAH website, so this is the May public notice a few days late, but you still have a day or two (although I’m almost certain this wasn’t published online on May 6) to get your comments in if you have any.

UNDER CONSIDERATION
FOR MISSISSIPPI LANDMARK DESIGNATION

The following buildings, located on the campus of Mississippi State University, Starkville, Oktibbeha County, are currently under consideration for designation as Mississippi Landmarks in compliance with the provisions of the Antiquities Law of Mississippi, Section 39-7-11 of the Mississippi Code of 1972, as amended.

• Band Hall [Academic Computer Lab]
• Ballew Animal Science Building
• Bedenbaugh Animal Science Building
• Chapel of Memories and George D. Perry Tower and Carillon
• Eckie’s Pond
• Etheredge Engineering Building
• Giles Hall [Agricultural Engineering Building I]
• Herzer Dairy Science
• Morgan-Magruder Faculty Housing
• Newell-Grisson Gymnasium [Animal Science Building]
• Patterson Engineering Laboratories
• University Drive Faculty Four-Plexes
• Meyer Student Media Center [Dairy Industries]
• Walker Engineering Laboratories

The Antiquities Law provides that publicly-owned properties found to have
significance may be designated as Mississippi Landmarks by the Board of
Trustees of the Mississippi Department of Archives and History. Designation
recognizes the historical and/or architectural significance of the property and
requires that proposed alterations that may affect the property’s historic
character be reviewed and approved by MDAH.

The Board of Trustees of the Mississippi Department of Archives and History
invites public comment on the proposed designation of the aforementioned
buildings as Mississippi Landmarks. Comments and requests for information
should be sent to Katherine Anderson, Mississippi Landmarks Administrator,
Historic Preservation Division, Mississippi Department of Archives and History,
P. O. Box 571, Jackson, Mississippi 39205, or kanderson@mdah.ms.gov within
thirty (30) days of the date of this publication.
