Backstories

Preservation is about more than fighting about whether or how to save a place, but there are always contentious issues, ranging from full-fledged battles to rational and coherent discussions between parties.  Often, the “fight” is not against people but against economic forces or changes in population.  Under this tab, we’ll try to give a summary of each of the big issues around the state so that we don’t have to keep re-explaining when we post updates.
