This building is beautiful and will probably be neglected to the point that it cannot be saved. It would make a fantastic entertainment venue...there is a huge stage at one end. The floor is as large as a basket ball court. How about a venue for meetings. plays, concerts, a second stage during the State Fair. Perhaps a sponsor like Pepsi, Budweiser, or ATT,,,paying for naming rights. Apparently Mississippians are willing to let this one go....I'll almost bet that this building was used during civil rights marches like the ag buildings on the fair grounds...Maybe a civil rights museum..anything but a trash heap....

Yes, it's all Tom's fault :-)

The interior is very simple, including a concrete floor/foundation, so there's all sorts of possibilities, including the easiest which would be an exhibit hall. The farmers market could have opened up here instead of building a new metal building that is only half full on a good day. A restaurant? Even a small hotel for the many many events that take place at the fairgrounds.

I just haven't known what to do with it! :) You'd think the state could sell it to someone who would do something creative with the space. I can't imagine that much more than the handsome exterior could be saved, but one never knows.
