I share your hope that new landmarks will take the place of the old. So far, a few have, I think mostly in Pass Christian where the Dixie White House has actually been reconstructed after a fire took it in th 1970s. But I also see insubstantial and vinyl-clad houses popping up, or houses that look like they could have been built in Any Suburb, USA.

Overall though, lots and lots of vacant lots with For Sale signs.

I don't know that anyone has brought up reconstruction of the Sullivan House. There is a major restoration of the Charnley House next door, which did survive but essentially had its back broken when the front half got lifted up off its foundation and set back down. That project has cost over a million dollars.

That's a really interesting thought about the Farnsworth--it actually has never occured to me, but it's definitely worth checking into!

I wonder if there is a chance that the Louis Sullivan House could be reconstructed? Has there been any discussion of this? Also, the Farnsworth Summer House in Pascagoula makes me wonder if this is the same family who later built Mies' Farnsworth House in Illinois.
